The Moody diagram is a powerful tool for calculating the pressure drop in any flow system.

Given the flow parameter (Re) and the roughness parameter (k/d), you get the friction factor (f).

Using f, you can work out the pressure drop from:

dP = ½ ρ f L V2 / d

It's as easy as that!

It works for all fluids (water, air, refrigerant, glycol...).
